Aponogeton boivinianus is a large, strong plant which is only suitable for large aquariums. A bulb plant from Madagascar. In favourable conditions it can form very large leaves (up to 80 cm long and 8 cm wide, and from 30-50 cm wide). The oldest leaves are deep dark-green, while younger leaves are light-green and sometimes brownish until they are fully developed. In the wild Aponogeton boivinianus is found in fast-flowing water, and it prefers some flow in the aquarium water. It needs a dormant period when the bulb does not produce leaves.
Please note: This plant arrives as a bulb, very often with leaves already sprouting. It can grow much bigger very quickly! It's best planted as follows...
How to plant: Push the bulb gently into the substrate in your aquarium, with the bottom two thirds of the bulb in the substrate, and the top third sticking out. Your bulb will soon establish. We endeavour to send out our bulbs with new leaf growth, however this occasionally isnt possible.

The pictures don't do this plant justice. I was expecting a bulb and perhaps a few leaves which might struggle getting established but what arrived was some giant kelp like plant. I'm very impressed by the quality and size of the plant.
What can I say but wow! this was huge absolutely perfect wasn't expecting it to have much growth at all but came with leaves 70cm+ long perfect for the tall tank it was ordered for leaves all in great condition bulb it's self was also huge. Fantastic plant and great service other aquatic plant stores charge extra for bulbs with leaves so glad I went with Aquarium gardens.
